Vintage Two Piece

Hey everyone, this is week I created a Summer Vintage look using two Simplicity Patterns. For the top I used Simplicity 1426 view D and Simplicity Pattern 1559 view D for the skirt.I had to alter the skirt and the top at the side seams by 1 inch to get the perfect.  Also, for the skirt I used an 7 inch invisible zipper instead of a regular zipper at the center back. Those were the only changes I made for this d.i.y, and I’m pretty happy with the results.

Sewing this two piece was very easy and fun and I just love the sunflower print fabric. Summer will be over soon, so I’m sewing my last few projects I had plan for the season.  Make sure your subscribed to stay updated on my latest post, thank you for the support.  Here is my Vintage Two Piece D.I.Y :

Swim Suit D.I.Y

Summer is coming to an end and it’s still hot as hell in Southern California. This week I made a third swimsuit using my favorite Vogue patterns V9192. I’ve sewn all the views in this pattern except view C.

The view I’ve sewn this week is View A & D, with the same fabric I used for view B. Sewing this D.I.Y was pretty easy and I enjoyed creating my first bikini. I would  normally prefer one piece bathing suit, I haven’t worn a bikini since I was a teen. But this Vogue bikini is amazing and I love how it fits my figure, its very easy to sew.

Vogue Pattern Version Of View A& D

I made View A & F last month a few days before vacation in Kauai, Hawaii.

Vogue Pattern Version View A & F

The fabric for this D.I.Y is the same sparkle blue knit material I used for the d.i.y cardigan. Next Summer I’ll be sewing View C for the first time and view A & F again.

Today I’m wear McCall’s M7349 with my D.I.Y Pineapple print bucket bag. The dress I’m wearing is one of my favorite McCall patterns I made it twice last year ( Peach Dress).  So I went to Walmart and purchased 2 yards of pineapple print fabric because its a Summer fruit  and one of my favorites. I made my first bucket bag using a free tutorial on Youtube by Lejanaro Barnes and made matching earrings. There is one thing I love most about my style and it’s how I match accessories. When ever a bag is made I make sure to create matching earrings and vice versa. Yes, I make jewelry  and its a little challenging but fun. Had a quick photo-shoot before work.😊😁 Here is my OOTD:

Three Piece D.I.Y

Hi everyone, its been real hot out here in Southern California. Temperatures has been over 100 degrees for the past few days this week. Since the weather has been a little unbearable I decided its time to start sewing Summer attire. For this D.I.Y I created a super simple bandeau top , high waist skirt and a custom crochet top.

I used Simplicity pattern 1426 View D for the top and Simplicity 8652 View C to make the skirt. Also, I purchased 2 yards of 100% cotton Chambray fabric from Hobby Lobby, and all the notions for this project were already in my stash. Sewing this skirt and top was a breeze and I had fun with this D.I.Y , it took me one day to get the skirt and top finished. I love this skirt and it may be my favorite, the fit is perfect. I will have to add this skirt to my everyday wardrobe, it’s so chic and simple. This Simplicity  skirt is very comfortable and can be worn all year long with so many different style tops.

I also created a custom crochet Summer top to pair with this outfit. For two weeks I’ve been working on this new design I created myself. I really love crocheting Summer attire that can be worn with clothing and Swimwear. I abosulutely love this backless crochet top so much. Its perfect for the Summer, going to the beach or even pool side. I have plans to crochet more, I’m working on a white version of this top now . So stay updated by subscribing to my blog.

McCall’s M7789

Hey everyone, Summer is finally here!! The first D.I.Y for the season is a very sexy and chic dress that’s so perfect for the hot weather. I really love this dress d.i.y, it was very easy to sew, and I had fun creating this look. I used McCall’s pattern M7789,  this pattern was released in Spring this year and I knew it had to be in my pattern collection. As soon as I got the pattern home I began planning for this d.i.y. To make this dress I purchased 3 yards of silk floral fabric, one invisible Zipper, thread, hook and eye. M7789_a

There are two changes I made to this dress. The first  was making two splits on the front of the skirt. The other revision I made was, instead of a regular zipper I used a invisible zipper at the center back of the dress. Other than that, this dress pattern was perfect and I do plan on sewing another soon for the Summer. Here is my Super Sexy Summer Dress D.I.Y.

Simplicity Maxi Dress

.Here with another Mimi G Style sewing D.I.Y. using Simplicity S8291 view B. This dress was very easy to sew, and it only took me two days to finish. I used a grey and black two-way stretch knit fabric, the same fabric I used for Simplicity S8095 View B . The front of my dress was sewn in the opposite direction of the photo, I just needed to see if the look of the dress was going to change and it didn’t so I’m happy.

There is is one change I would make to this dress and that is to cut it shorter. This dress turned out to be really long, even after I took six inches off the pattern. I think the next time I sew this dress I’ll shorten it two or three more inches, so it’s not touching the ground. Other than that, I really love this dress and its my favorite Mimi G pattern. Simplicity S8291 is an easy and  fast make and will be perfect for the Summer. I think this dress will look great in a unique floral print fabric, I have to remember before I sew this d.i.y  again.

May Pattern Haul

Its May and I have new sewing patterns that I just added to my collection. All of these patterns were purchased online on the McCall Pattern Company Website or at Joann’s Fabric store.  Most of the patterns below are from Simplicity Patterns, Vogue Patterns, and McCall’s Pattern Company.

This month pattern haul consist of three dress patterns, one top, one jacket, one jumpsuit and one coordinate pattern. I’ve already purchase fabric for McCall’s M7740, and I will be sewing View C or D this month. I love all of the patterns in this haul, hopefully I can make time to sew at least two of these garment before the end of the month.
