Hoodie Cardigan

Hey everyone, I’m so excited to share my hoodie cardigan d.i.y. Have you ever purchased fabric and had no idea or plans for that material? I’m pretty sure most sewist can relate. Two years ago I went shopping and acquired some knit floral print fabric but had no idea what I was going to create with the material. The fabric stayed in my stash up until last month. The material is soft ,thick and I love the color, it reminds me of the Spring Season. So, I decided that this fabric would look great as a jacket or cardigan that can be worn now and for the Spring. I’m so ready for the weather to get warmer, which encouraged me to sew this d.i.y inspired by one of my favorite seasons.

To create this cardigan I used Simplicity 8740 view B in size small and 2 yards of double knit fabric. I also used 1 1/2 yard of white cording for the drawstring, matching thread, and twin needle.Sewing this was real easy , and I enjoy making this d.i.y. I’ve never sewn a hoodie before and its one of the reason why I chose to sew view B.

All the views for this pattern are the same except view B which has a hoodie and two front pockets. The two front pockets are awesome and I love them so much. Normally, commercial sewing pattern pockets are small and I always have to enlarge them by 2 or 3 inches. But not these pockets, they are perfect.

I actually love everything about this cardigan,  and have plans to sew it again. As for now here is my d.i.y hoodie cardigan.
