Denim Shirtdress

Hello everyone, I’m here with another Shirt-dress d.i.y.  For this dress I used Simplicity pattern 8014 View A.8014

Sewing shirt-dresses are fun , I have already made two from this Simplicity pattern in View A and B. Both of the dresses below were made with denim fabric, View B is Floral print denim, sleeveless and ankle length. View A below was sewn exactly as seen on the pattern envelope front.

As preciously stated, I have sewn View A and made only one simple change which was not attaching the sleeves and cuffs to the armhole. Instead I removed the seam allowance from the armhole and sewn bias tape to the inside. Then I double top stitched on the outside of the sleeve for a clean finish. In fact, I did a lot of top stitching on this dress, the front band , pockets, back seam, back yoke, shoulder seam, collar and collar band were all top stitched with contrast denim thread.

Also, I used thirteen gold 7/8 inch buttons that I got at my local fabric store Mylee Sewing Machines ,the black bias tape I used at the armhole was purchased there as well. The Los Angeles  Garment District is where I shopped for the denim fabric, I don’t remember the name of the store but the fabric was a steal at 3.99 a yard.I made sure to buy some in a lighter color to make view D, the last denim shirt dress I’ll make with this pattern. Stay tuned for that post in the future, I think I want to add embroidery to the pockets, collar, or sleeve, I don’t know yet we will see. For now here is my finished Simplicity 8014 denim shirt dress.

Thank you for the Support

With Love Presheil S
